Tom Denton

Tom Ashley Denton (born July 24, 1989 in Shepley, Kirkburton, West Yorkshire, England) is a professional footballer currently playing for Huddersfield Town in Football League One, although as of March 6, 2009, he is on loan at Wakefield.
He first came to public attention when he was offered a trial at Premier League side Blackburn Rovers. He managed to score a goal for their reserve team. After his trial was completed, he was being looked at by Rovers, Championship side Crystal Palace and his hometown team Huddersfield Town.
On August 15, 2008, Huddersfield beat off the competition and signed Denton from Northern Premier League Division One North side Wakefield for a fee of £60,000, possibly totalling up to £100,000. Many people refer to Denton as "the non-league Peter Crouch", mainly because he is 6' 6" tall.
On November 27, he joined Conference National side Woking for a month. He made his debut on December 2, in the Conference Cup win over Salisbury City, where he scored one and set up two in a 3-0 win. He made his league debut for the Cardinals in their 1-0 defeat at Histon on December 6. He scored his first goal for Woking in their 1-1 draw with Rushden & Diamonds on December 9. He returned to Town on January 30, 2009.
Still unable to break into the first team, Lee Clark sent Denton back to Wakefield on loan for a month on March 6, 2009. In the league match against Salford City, Denton scored 4 of Wakefield's 8 goals in an 8-1 win.
