Chris Smalling

Chris Smalling is an amateur footballer who currently plays for Isthmian League Premier Division side Maidstone United. Smalling made the step up to the first team from reserve and youth team football at the start of the 2007-2008 season. Smalling made one first team appearance before this in the Kent Senior Cup quarter final against Welling United at the tail end of the 2006-2007 season. Smalling is also part of the England Schoolboys Under 18 football team. The Chatham Grammar School student made his debut in their 2-0 win against Australia at Shrewsbury Town. Smalling is currently on a 6 week trial at Premier League side Middlesbrough. During this time he will be available for Maidstone matches when not on England duty. Reading, Charlton Athletic, Fulham and Gillingham have also registered their interest in the player. |
