In the middle of the year (2010) a group of Muslims began the idea of opening an Islamic Center in Tijuana. Masyid Al Islam, Tijuana The physical location of Masjid Al-Islam is currently located at Paseo Costero 3470-8, Madrid, Playas de Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. The mosque opened just the first day of Ramadan, 1431 AH (August 11, 2010), and was officially incorporated under the regulations of Mexico governing non-profit associations, on January 6, 2012 as a "Civil Association". This designation is pending acceptance as a "Religious Association" within 5 years under Mexican law. Operating under its official title: The Islamic Community of Baja California, the Masjid itself is home to a large community of migrant and native Muslims who live locally in Tijuana. |
