Kent University Conservative Association (KUCA), founded in 1965, is a political society at the University of Kent, operating within Kent Union. It is not formally affiliated with any national political organisations, such as Conservative Future. Within Local Politics KUCA shares close working relationships with Kent MPs, most notably Canterbury and Julian Brazier. Kent University Conservative Association members have previously involved themselves in national and local campaigning, including the 2010 General Election, the London mayoral election and also in the local elections with KUCA canvassing for the Conservatives within Canterbury City Council and Kent County Council. Guest Speakers KUCA has previously hosted guest speaker events, where national and local political figures are invited to talk on a range of topics. Previous speakers in recent years have included Damian Collins MP, former leader of the Conservative Party, Michael Howard, and Local MP for Canterbury, Julian Brazier, the former shadow transport minister, who is also a regular guest speaker.
