Iranian Mexicans

An Iranian Mexican is a Mexican having a racial identity from Iran. Iranian influx to Mexico began through refugees getting free from Iranian Revolution in 1979. They are concentrated in Coahuila and Baja California; the latter live in cities of Mexicali in the Imperial Valley US/Mexico, and Tijuana across from San Diego with a fairly large Iranian American community, some of those families have relatives in Mexico.

Not all of them are ethnic Persians, but many are Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and Azerbaijanis. Iranian Mexicans are rarely considered Spanish Mexicans. Also, children with Spanish surnames born to native Mexican fathers and Iranian mothers can be considered Spanish Mexicans or mestizos.

Unlike Arab Mexicans, most Iranian Mexicans in religion are Shi'ite Muslims. A minority are Christians, Bahá'ís, and Jews.
