Arcata and Eureka Community Recycling Centers

History
ACRC is in its 38th year of operation, making it America's oldest continuously operating community recycling center.

The non-profit Arcata Community Recycling Center was founded shortly after Earth Day 1970. Led by Wes Chesbro in its early years, the organization has played an integral role in fostering the eco-conscience of the people of the North Coast. Through education and outreach the center has taught people the benefits recycling has for a region's sustainability.
In 2002, ACRC began operation of the Eureka Community Recycling Center at the HWMA Transfer Station, and in 2007 opened a new 35,800 sq. ft. dual-stream processing facility in Samoa, CA.
Their combined facilities process over 10,000 tons of materials per year.
