Masood Yama (1968 - 28 January 2011) was a surgeon at Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Hospital. He was killed in Kabul in a suicide attack, together with his wife, Hamida Barmaki, and their four children. Academic career Yama was born in Kabul in 1968. He started his education at Aziz Afghan Secondary School and graduated from Sher Shahe Sori High School in 1983. He studied medicine at Kabul Medical Institute (1984-1989). He was appointed Professor of Medical Science University (Military Medical Faculty). Meanwhile, he continued his specialization in General Surgery, and he served in that capacity at Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Hospital from 1993-1996. He next worked as senior surgeon and maternity consultant at Ghazni Regional Hospital, from 1996-2002. He died with his family in a suicide attack for which the Taliban claimed responsibility.<ref name=Reuters />
