Madanu Francis

Madanu Francis is an Indian Theologian and a member of the scholarly Society for Biblical Studies in India, a Learned society, incorporating Biblical Scholars of the Protestant, Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Charismatic traditions.
He has knowledge of Telugu, English, Latin and Hebrew.
History
Fr. Francis hailed from Govindapuram in Nalgonda District in Andhra Pradesh. He pursued theological studies at St. John's Regional Seminary, Hyderabad.
Studies and Research
In 1991, Francis enrolled at St. Peter's Pontifical Seminary in Bengaluru to pursue a post-graduate degree in Biblical Studies under Anthony Ceresko, OSFS, then Professor of Biblical Studies. In the final year of his post-graduate studies, Francis submitted a master's thesis entitled The Sources of Suffering of Innocents drawing parallels with Job and Harischandra.
Continuing his studies, he enrolled for doctoral studies at the Seminary in Bengaluru in 1993 and had a research exposure at Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem. Francis researched on Suffering in the Biblical Context with specific reference to Job and finally submitted his doctoral dissertation in 1996 which was titled Understanding of the Poor in Job in the Context of Biblical Wisdom Literature.
Based on the reports of Anthony R.Ceresko, Gnana Robinson and M. Devadass Ambrose who moderated the thesis, St. Peter's Pontifical Seminary, Bengaluru awarded the doctoral degree of theology D. Th. to Madanu Francis.

Teacher
Since 1996, Madanu Francis began teaching Old Testament at St. John's Regional Seminary in Hyderabad to students pursuing theology.
Scholarship
Francis is acknowledged to have made an impact on Biblical Suffering taking the Book of Job as lead. Biblical Scholars such as David J. A. Clines of the University of Sheffield, England mentioned the contribution of Francis to the existing writings on Job.
Leadership
The Society for Biblical Studies in India in which Francis is a member elected him as an office bearer in 1998. Francis was Secretary of the SBSI from 1998 to 2000.
