Lou Palmisano

Louis Richard Palmisano (born September 16, 1982 in Utica, New York) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Independent Pensacola Pelicans.
Amateur career
High school
Palmisano graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 2001, after winning a state championship in baseball. In the Major League Baseball draft that year, Palmisano was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the 21st round (643rd overall).
College
He did not sign with the White Sox and instead attended Broward Community College, in which he graduated in 2003 with a business degree. That same year, he entered the draft again, and this time was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round as the 69th overall pick of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft.
Professional career
Milwaukee Brewers
After signing with the Brewers, he played for the Rookie-League Helena Brewers in . Playing in 47 games, he hit 6 home runs and hit close to .400 with a .391 clip. After the season, he was named by Topps as a short season rookie All-Star. He led the Pioneer League in batting average and was ' Short-Season All-Star, Most Valuable Player and an All-Star at catcher. He gained the nickname "Capitan Lou" from his teammates in Helena. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Pioneer League despite being injured the last month of the season.
In , he played for the Single-A Advanced Brevard County Manatees and batted .255 with 5 home runs. His season included being named to the Florida State League midseason All-Star game. His seven triples ranked fifth in the Florida State League.
For the next two seasons, and , Palmisano played entirely for the Double-A Huntsville Stars. In both seasons he was named to the Southern League midseason All-Star game. He batted .241 with 4 home runs in 2006 and .256 with a career high 11 home runs in 2007.
Palmisano began the season sidelined after he underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. On November 19, , the Brewers purchased Palmisano's contract, protecting him from the Rule 5 Draft. On September 5, , he was designated for assignment to make room for Mike Lamb after he spent the entire '08 season rehabbing from his knee surgery.
Houston Astros
Palmisano was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2008 Rule 5 draft from the Milwaukee Brewers, but was immediately traded to the Houston Astros for a cash compensation. Palmisano attended spring training in 2009 as a non-roster invitee and competed with Humberto Quintero and J. R. Towles for a spot on the Major League roster. On March 21, 2009 the Astros offered Palmisano back to the Brewers, the team he was selected from in the Rule 5 draft, but the Brewers declined. He was then optioned to the Triple-A Round Rock Express. He was traded to the Pensacola Pelicans where he currently plays.<ref name="pensacolapelicans.com"/>
