Liz Colville

Liz Colville is an American journalist known for her music criticism in Stylus Magazine and Pitchfork Media, two widely read online music magazines that are often considered rivals. She is also the founder and chief author of Lizzyville, an mp3 blog. Before being hired at Stylus Magazine, Colville wrote under the pseudonym "Fernando Royale" for the online music store Amp Camp.

Born in the U.S. to Canadian parents, Colville grew up in England and reflects both a preference and disdain for British music in her often caustic reviews, which take an objective stance even on music that she highly regards. Often writing in an archaic and formal style, Colville is not only a rare female on two predominantly male mastheads, but a writer who insistently harks back to a form of criticism that the blogging revolution has come to reject and even abhor.

Colville is also the granddaughter of the Canadian painter Alex Colville (1921- ) and a former cross-country runner for Wesleyan University.
