Karl Bjorn Erickson

Karl Bjorn Erickson is an American and essayist, whose work in the latter field consists mainly of religious and political topics.
Career
Karl Erickson is the author of a children's book entitled Tristan's Travels, which is set in Astoria, Oregon. (According to the author's websites, this book is scheduled to be published in Fall/Winter 2010 by Rafka Press .) Erickson enjoys writing on a variety of topics. An article entitled "Mysterious Tools" was published in America, The National Catholic Weekly, one of the country's premier religious magazines. The story of his conversion to the Catholic Church appeared in the "Damascus Road" section of the January '07 issue of This Rock, Catholic Answers' popular magazine of Catholic apologetics. Although not an exhaustive list, his essays have also appeared in Seattle Pacific University's Response (an alumni magazine), TiberRiver Catholic Book Reviews, the Episcopal Church News, and the Church Music Association of America's Sacred Music in the Fall 2009 issue. It explores the current state of liturgical music. Between his published essays, one published short story, and a handful of letters to the editor, Karl has nearly two dozen writings published at this time.
He also enjoys political satire and has been published in the Portland Tribune--along with a photo of his politically-minded cat. Shorter pieces of writing have also appeared in the "Letters" section of many magazines and newspapers across the country-including Christianity Today, This Rock, Christian News Northwest, Catholic Sentinel, Response and the Statesman Journal.
Besides writing, Karl Erickson represented Oregon some years ago when he appeared in a live television news segment which was broadcast throughout the state. He has also spoken before a variety of groups in Oregon and Washington State. He currently works for the State of Oregon. Karl Erickson is also a vocal advocate for CPR training for safer homes and communities, and this is reflected in one of his essays entitled "Breath of Life," which is available through Churchmouse Publications.
Personal life
Raised in Washington State's Yakima Valley, having attended Seattle Pacific University and the University of Kansas, Karl Erickson today resides in Salem, Oregon with his wife and two children. Karl's wife, Kimberly Erickson, is an illustrator and the daughter of celebrated illustrator and sculptor John Collier.
