, also called Maiden Witch Parfait, is a PC economic simulation game created by Kogado Studio. It is the first game from the . The sequel is known as Little Witch Parfait 2: Heartful Memories, and features the same protagonist as the first game, Parfait Shucrell.

Little Witch Parfait was released on April 28, 1999, and gained success from the neighbouring Asian countries, including China and South Korea.

Story

Parfait Shucrell is a Maiden Witch (Magical Girl), who is yet in training and full of clumsiness in raising a potion shop called Black Cat Market run by her mother and Parfait's black cat, Sakemas, who can amazingly talk. A year ago from the time this game was set, her mother had died from an illness - her father was a famous wizard who died from saving the kingdom when Parfait was young.

At the beginning, Parfait introduces herself and tells the player that she is almost at the risk of losing her beloved shop (the only remains of her mother), for Parfait has to pay the debt of 1,000,000G (gold) by 12 months to keep the shop running. As a normal shop, there seems no hope for raising the Black Cat Market's fame.

Motives

The player's motive is to collect this debt by 12 months in various ways such as putting cauldron-made potions to the shop counters for customers, accepting potion orders at the end of the day and sell her potions on the street. As Parfait gains more experience via studying in the library or creating potions, her levels will rise (with a maximum of six stars) which enables her to succeed more on potions that are high-leveled. Many places may trigger the encounter with other important characters whose futures the player must decide by motivating Parfait.

Major Characters

Parfait Shucrell: The protagonist of the game. She is a blithely (with the usual ahoge) maiden witch who requires to choose from duty or love.

Reinette Kirsche: Reinette owns a shop of her own, similar to Parfait, called Smile Market. She is the older sister of Cocotte Kirsche. Reinette considers herself as rival to Parfait, the owner of another shop in the same town. Parfait however never does acknowledge this and continues to treat Reinette as a friend, despite her contempt. Reinette therefore has a soft, unseen side for Parfait, no matter how tough she is. Parfait and Reinette get along fairly well until Reinette cannot control her overwhelming anger to blame of Parfait for her dead mother...

Flore Milfia: Parfait's best friend, who is very weakly. Flore is depicted as a friendly girl who is interested mostly in flowers and cares intensely to her only true friend, Parfait. Flore used to attend the same school to Parfait's until recently, when her weakness could not endure. Instead she entertains herself by raising flowers in her own flower garden. However, one sudden day she proves too weak to even venture outside to her beloved flower gardens...

Cocotte Kirsche: Reinette's smaller sister, who runs the Smile Market with Reinette. She plays a minor part in the game, since to have an ending with her the player must complete Reinette's ending, Cocotte being a type of "addition" to the homogender story. In Little Witch Reinette: A Tear's Rhapsody, she is revealed to be the cause of her mother's death, having interrupted her dangerous potion making as a baby. Reinette therefore accuses her first for their mother's death and then to Parfait, finally erupting into insanity.

Fehr Recete: A mysterious minstrel who always seems to singing his own poems with a lute, who at certain times of the week appears at the Forest Lake outside of town. His secrecy is added to by a long green hat covering half his face. Parfait slowly grows an interest to him...

Philis Floru Anemos: A prince of the town whose appearance uncannily resembles Ferr's. He meets Parfait first at the Swimming Costume Competition and later invites her to his palace - for some reason, he seems to know her and her hidden past...
