Kurtis Krow

Cameron Lane Coker (a.k.a. Kurtis Krow) is a American writer, poet, and musician. He is best known for his novels "The Lost Story of Anastasia", "White Knights", and "The Turner Raid." He as aslo wrote more than forty poems and numerous musical pieces. He plays many musical insturments including Trombone, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Alto Saxophone. He sites Rock and Roll as his favorite genre of music and takes alot of influences from artists like U2, Green Day, John Mellencamp, and even Heavy Metal. He currrently attends Russellville High School where he also plays on the Russellville Cyclone football team and his a sports writer for the school newspaper.

Early Years
Kurtis Krow was born September 11, 1991 in Russellville, Arkansas, United States to Ken David Coker Jr. and Kellie Red Eye Coker. His father was the grandson of Irish-Scotish Protestant imigrants from the counties of Ulster in Northern Ireland. His mother was the daughter of a full blooded Seminole Indian and a German imigrant. Kurtis is currently a member of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma. He has one brother named Andrew David Coker who is six years younger. He cuurently an elder at Central Presbyterian Church in Russellville, Arkansas. Presbyterinaism was brought along by his fathers family from Northern reland and it is the denomination of Christianity practiced by his fathers family. His mother's family had long practiced Methodism, but currently his mother considers herself Presbyterian. At age six he wrote his first poem and was becoming interested in music by age nine. He began listening to U2 and Green Day around this time. By age twelve he began being interested in Heavy Metal bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Metallica. Since age thirteen he has tried many band experiments, but so far unsuccesful. He is currently playing with a band formed at his church where he plays Bass and his lead Vocalist. He wrote his first book at age fourtenn called "Ten Fall Nights" about High School football in Texas. It was a flop and was not even published.

Sucess
After an Experiment into writing with "Ten Fall Nights" he picked up the pen again and coined "The Lost story of Anastaisa" a novel about the possible escape of the last Grand Duchess of Russia from death during the Comunist Revolution on 1917. He had members of his family read it and they thought it was really good. He then hired an agent who worked out a publishing contract and the novel is set to debut summer 2008. Of course the novel was based on historical characters, but he used many characteristics in his potrayl of Anastasia from his enviornemnt. Many where of his mother such as temperment, and sterness. However he based many features such as compassion, tenderness, and comfort also of his mother into the character of Anastasia.

Next Novel
After landing a publishing contract with "The Lost Story of Anastasia" he set to work on his next novel called "White Knights" which is about racial turmoil in 1950's Mississippi. He soon landed another publishing contract for the new novel as well and it is set to release in January 2009. In the story the son of a Ku Klux Klan leader falls in love with the new Jewish girl who moved into town. Her father is a lawyer who later defends an acused black man in the murder of white man. Soon the Secret of the twos love affair is revealed and the town erupts in a flood of racial violence. In this novel Kurtis used another refrences of people from his hometown. For instance the character of Ella Bernstien is based off a love intrest of Krow's who he only refers to her as "Caroline". He said he used much imagery from her in this charecter in the novel. Such as physical apperance, wit, and charm. he want's the girl called "Caroline" to know he still as feelings for her and even after writing this novel they would not go away.

Poetry
Kurtis Krow as written many poems including "These Old Love Notes", "New Day", and "Coexist." He sites Robert Frost as his favorite poet of all time. He mostly writes poetry when something his bothering him and he usually writes it at night. He says quote "It just feels right to write at night."

Working On New Novel
He says he is working on a new novel called "The Turner Raid", but he refuses to reveal it's plot. He says "It is very much still a work in progress."

Political Beliefs
Mr. Krow as long been interseted in politics. He consider himself a Moderate Liberal. He is aganst the U.S. Prescence in Iraq. He is also expressed displeasure with President Bush's handling of the Economy and the National Debt. His favortite President of the last twenty years is Bill Clinton. He has already endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for the 2008 Presidential Election.
