PERUNIKA is a London-based a'capella trio performing Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian and Church-Slavonic repertoire. Founded in October 2005 by Eugenia Georgieva, the trio went on to release their debut album "Introducing Perunika Trio/ Bulgarian Living Traditions: Haunting Avoustic Harmonies" in March 2008, to a great critical acclaim both in the British and international press, including four stars in the Financial Times.
Members of Perunika Trio are Eugenia Georgieva, Victoria Mancheva and Dessislava Vasileva, who replaced original member Victoria Evstatieva in the spring of 2008.
The name is from Perunika, a pagan Slavic goddess of eternal youth, wife of Perun. In Bulgarian and other Slavic languages perunika is also the local name for the flower iris.
