Lisbon 2020 (aka Olissipo 2020) is is a bid by Lisbon, the capital and largest city of Portugal, launched on October 23, 2011 by the Olympic Committee of Portugal. Overview Lisbon hosted 1994 World Junior Championships in Athletics, 1985 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, 2001 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2008 European Judo Championships, 2001 UCI Road World Championships, 1947 World Fencing Championships, 2002 World Fencing Championships, 2009 Lusophony Games, European Short Course Swimming Championships 1999 and the Expo 98. Venues The Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) to the planned Olympic Stadium near the Estádio da Luz. The arenas that were chosen were the Pavilhão Atlântico, Estádio José Alvalade, Pavilhão da Luz Nº1, Estádio José Gomes, among others. On October 24, 2011, José Vicente de Moura, decided that the Olympic Stadium will have the capacity to 9,000,000 people.
