Liam Patton (born County Donegal) was an Irish soccer player during the 1980s in the League of Ireland. Patton was signed for Sligo Rovers by Patsy McGowan prior to the 1978/79 season. During Sligo's 1981 FAI Cup run, Patton scored in the first semi final against Waterford United at Dalymount Park which brought the tie to a reply which Sligo won to earn a place in the FAI Cup final against Dundalk. Rovers lost the final which was their fifth defeat in their fifth final. During his time at Sligo Rovers he played over 60 games scoring 11 times before he signed for Finn Harps in 1982. He was named in the all time "Top 100 Sligo Rovers Players List" where he was described as having high energy performances and as covering every blade of grass.
