LanX

LanX is a social enterprise project founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 2009. For the last two years, LanX has aimed to provide equity funding for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in an eight to ten county area. LanX has sought to establish a regional securities exchange, accessible through an online trading platform, where individual and institutional investors in Pennsylvania will be able to buy and sell securities from SMEs. LanX has been working to have self-sustaining revenues from commissions and fees and re-invest excess revenues into the SMEs. This concept has been recognized by the New York Times as one that will allow local consumers to strengthen their local economies as opposed to strengthening global conglomerates.
The project was a finalist in the changemakers.com "Strong Communities" competition.
