Kenji Nicks (born December 4, 1992 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays for St. Catharines Wolves in Canadian Soccer League.
Career
Youth
Nicks began his youth soccer at a young age with the St. Catharines Roma youth teams. He then went on to academy football with DPS in Stoney Creek and Elite Soccer Development in St. Catharines. In 2010, he joined the St. Catharines Wolves new Reserve Team in the Canadian Soccer League reserve division. Before deciding to stick with soccer, Nicks was an aspiring hockey player, who was ranked as a potential draftee to the OHL. He continues to fulfill his love for the sport through recreational ball hockey when he has off days from the pitch.
Professional
After performing well in many reserve team appearances, Nicks was finally called up to the first team mid-season. He made his first appearance against the Montreal Impact Academy, and a few games later made his first start against London City. Nicks' first few appearances garnered attention on the squad, and he eventually earned himself a spot in the side regularly for the remainder of the season. After a last place finish in 2010, Roma changed direction with club and a new manager was brought in. It was announced that Nicks would begin the season with the reserve squad, and would be a frequent call up to the first team.
University
In 2010 Nicks graduated from Ridley College Prep School in St. Catharines. He is currently attending Brock University as part of the Political Science program. Nicks joined the Badgers men's soccer team after a strong showing during training camp. After playing sparsely through the first few games, Nicks became a regular in the line up as the season wore down.
