Jonathan Makaya

Jonathan "John" Makaya (born July 26, 1993) is a French professional footballer who last played as a forward for Philadelphia Fury.
Club career
Makaya began his career in France. After joining AS Lattes, he later played for FC Sète and represented both clubs at the youth national level. Makaya played for AS Béziers (France) in 2012 and Alcobendas Sports (Spain) in 2013 before being recruited by (USA).
In 2014, he made his college soccer debut with St. Francis Brooklyn under head coach Tom Giovatto. In his first year, Makaya helped lead St. Francis Brooklyn to a and to an NCAA Tournament appearance. He was also named as a Second Team ALL-NEC player. In his two seasons with the Terriers, Makaya appeared in 40 games scoring 14 goals and recording 7 assists.
In 2017, Makaya Joined the Montreal Carabins soccer team. In the same year with the team, he became two-time RSEQ provincial champion (Indoor and outdoor) and won a silver medal at the Canadian University championship organized by . In this same with the Montreal Carabins, Makaya appeared in 25 games, helped the team score 8 goals and recording 8 assists.
International career
Before playing at St. Francis College, Makaya won a bronze medal at the European University Championship in Córdoba (Spain) with the University of Montpellier 1. After having graduated from St. Francis College, Makaya signed a professional contract with Philadelphia Fury in February 2016.
