Matthew Dallman

Matthew Dallman (born March 9, 1985, in Portland, Oregon) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Arminia Bielefeld II.
Biography
Matthew was born on March 9, 1985, to Lynda and Peter Dallman. Matthew's father played soccer for Portland State, and his great-grandfather, Roderick Welsh, played professionally for Portsmouth and Port Vale of the English First Division.
Youth career
Matthew played high school soccer for Hood River Valley High School, playing on the varsity team for three seasons, earning a place on the second-team all-state squad as a senior. He then attended Chico State for one year, but was a medical redshirt during his year there. In 2004, he transferred to the University of Portland, where he was the team's fourth-leading scorer, with five goals and three assists. In 2005, Matthew started 17 games at midfield for the Pilots, recording a goal and four assists during the campaign. In 2006, he played in 19 games for Portland, leading the team in points with 10, with 2 goals and 6 assists.
Professional career
During 2006 Dallman played for the Bradenton Academics in the USL Premier Development League, where he led the team in assists, and was 3rd in the PDL. Dallman also scored the game's only goal in the Academics' conference semi-final double overtime win against unbeaten and nationally first ranked Carolina. Attempting to take advantage of his English heritage, Dallman set up multiple trials with European clubs following the close of the 2006 college season. He first went to Bolton on February 15, 2007 to try and earn a spot with the FA Premier League club, before heading to trials with FC Nordsjælland and Bayern Munich II. After completing his trials, and waiting for offers from clubs, Dallman decided to sign with FC Nordsjælland, formally agreeing to a contract on March 19, 2007. The deal was short-term, and kept him with the Danish club until the end of their season. He never received playing clearance from the league, and only played with their reserve squad. In his first match with the reserves, Dallman scored the game-winning goal off of a free kick. Dallman is currently out of contract, and just concluded a series of trials in Sweden, with heavy interest coming from Superettan club Bunkeflo IF. However, the two sides could not reach an agreement, and Dallman has more trials to come, including another with Bolton. After a trial with VfL Wolfsburg he was offered a contract with their reserve team, but instead he accepted a 2-year offer from Arminia Bielefeld where he will play with the reserve team in the Oberliga..
