John James de Pont (born Auckland 9 February 1953), Ph.D (1984) Cambridge, is a New Zealand Research Engineer and is a leading New Zealand roading engineer. Education De Pont, who is of Dutch parentage, spent his childhood in Auckland and was educated at there (1964-1969) He then obtained his Ph.D at Cambridge University in 1984. Career De Pont was a senior research scientist at the DSIR (1977-1992) and at Industrial Research Limited (1992-1997). He is Director of Engineering Research, Transport Engineering Research New Zealand Ltd (1997-). De Pont received the New Zealand Science and Technology Medal 1995 for vehicle-road interaction research. He is a Member of the Royal Society of New Zealand.<ref name="Who"/> |
