Jenny Farrar

Jenny Farrar was the Mayor of the City of Yarra from 2006 to 2007.
Jenny Farrar became one of the first members of the Australian Greens to successfully contest an elected office in Victoria, Australia when she was elected to the Council of the City of Yarra in 2002 and again in 2004. She represented the former Merri Ward, when she was elected to Yarra Council in 2002. In 2004 she was re-elected to represent Langridge Ward.
Jenny Farrar helped initiate the Asset Management Policy for the City of Yarra and has successfully Chaired the Asset Management Committee since its inception in 2003.
She also held office as Chair of the Planning Committee in 2005 and Chair of Finance and Governance in 2006. As Chair of these committees, Jenny Farrar played a major role in the Yarra's Heritage Review, the review of Council's Municipal Strategic Statement, the development of the Urban Design Framework for the Smith Street Precinct, the review of the City's finances, and implementing a community consultation process in relation to Council's budget.
Jenny Farrar was the Greens candidate for the seat of McMillan in the 2001 Australian Federal Election, receiving 3.6% of the vote.
In private life she is an industrial organiser with the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance and previously advocated for the Southern Shark and Gill Net Fishermen’s Association.
