Fumi Hancock (also known as Princess Fumi Hancock) is an African-American movie-maker, writer, public speaker and internet radio host. Her internet radio show Princess of Suburbia has seen her interviewing leading African figures and media figures and her novel Of Sentimental Value was recently turned into a movie. She currently resides in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Early life Fumi Hancock was born Fumilayo Stephanie Ogunleye and grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria. She was trained from birth to regard her royal background as a privilege. She moved to the United States and struggled to fit in. Eventually she became a registered nurse. The Princess of Suburbia Show Hancock is host and interviewer on a YouTube show called The Princess of Suburbia. The show brings exposure to leading African figures and promotes African heritage. The show has had 2.4 million viewings to date. Writing career Hancock has written two novels: The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's Nest and Of Sentimental Value. Of Sentimental Value The novel Of Sentimental Value was made into a movie by Cambium Break Pictures in 2014. It won the NAFCA "Peoples Choice Award" and Hancock won the NAFCA "Favourite Screenwriter" award. The launch event for the movie was attended by African royalty. African Heritage Award In 2014 Hancock was awarded the "African Heritage Award" for her ardent promotion and support of African culture.<ref name="ofsentimentalvaluenovel"/>
