James A. Collins

James Albert Collins (born on 29 June 1991) better known as James Collins is a British operatic tenor from England. James had been singing since he was a small child, but had no interest in singing as a career. He mainly sang solo's while in Middle and Secondry School. He is currently scheduled to be appearing in Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto to play the role of the Duke of Mantua. The show will commence at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury between Saturday 22 March - Sunday 20 April 2008. In May 2007 at the age of 15, he recieved a standing ovation by staff and Students from Broadstairs special needs school for his performance of the famous tenor aria La donna è mobile.

Biography
Earlier life
James Collins, was born in Sidcup, Greater London. The son of Christopher Collins, a Corgi registered Gas installer and Company Owner and Debra Collins, a secretary for John Taylor and Assoc. Although he had been singing since a young child, James Collins never saught a career in the music industry, let alone singing opera, and after finishing school in July 2007 began attending Sheppey College studying Public Services.

At the age of 15 he started singing lessons with Professional Opera Singer Colin Morris.
James' earliest musical influences were his Grandmother's recordings, most of them featuring famous Sopranos of the day. His nan had always sang opera with James and according to James, "possessed a fine Soprano voice, but rejected the possibility of a singing career because of nervousness as well as age."

After what appears to have been a normal childhood with a typical interest in Public Services — in James' case The Police above all - he graduated from Minster College and faced a Dilemma of choices. He was interested in pursuing a career as a Police Officer, but had a high interest in Operatics. He decided to continue the study of public services in case the operatics was a failure so as he would have something of a career to land on.

College
James' began college in September 2007 studying National Diploma in Public Services. In July 2007 he was awarded the Duke of Edinburgh award for the completion of Skill Force - A British two-year ASDAN course.
He currently sings alongside childhood friend Samantha Ormesher in erderly homes, although he seldom sings opera there. He also takes part in several Church Choirs as well as performances in elderly homes. He is well known for his performance of La donna è mobile in May 2007.
On March 16 2007 James took part in the Red Nose Day 2007 concert in Hyde Park singing Greatest Love of All. The concert raised over £70,000

Personal Life
James has three brothers and one sister: Chris aged 23, Michael 21, Billy aged 10 in December, and Samantha aged 13. When not at College or singing, James likes too spend his time out with his mates, playing sports and exploring the world. He is a huge fan of the late Luciano Pavarotti, He is also a big fan of Russell Watson and American diva Whitney Houston. James has a big interest in Martial Arts. From a young age he studied many different martial arts styles.
