Isabella-Jade Wiliams (Isabella-Jade Scarlette Rose Wiliams), born 23 August 1990, is one of Australia's most prominent ballroom dancers. Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Isabella is the youngest dance championship title holder in the past 100 years and is said to be at the heart of Australian Ballroom Dancing. Isabella is involved in multi-million dollar dance contracts with renowed dance choreographer Jason Gilkison.
Family background
Isabella is the daughter of QC Nicholas Wiliams and top peadiatric surgeon Manuella Wiliams. Isabella is the youngest of five children and the family currently reside on the New South Wales Central Coast.
Dance career
Isabella first took the floor at the age of three in local dances in South Africa. Isabella's technical diversity in ballroom caught the eye of Dance Australia when Isabella was brought out to Australia to perform in the closing ceremony at the Sydney Olympics games in late 2000.
Early 2002 saw the coupling of Michael Myan and together Michael and Isabella dominated almost every local competition with 2008 being crowned the only couple to be undefeated throughout the whole dance season. They followed this up with winning the National Australian Dancesport Championships held in Brisbane in December 2008.
At age 18 she has already surpassed any open division ballroom dance champion. A supreme technician and a dedicated performer and natural talent, Isabella is highly regarded amongst dancers and choreographers alike. Her career prestigious though not without controversy incuring a record suspension and fine after being charged with bringing the sport into disrepute.
Wiliams is the youngest Ballroom Dancer to ever make professional level when she signed contracts with the International Dance Federation in 1998 when Wiliams was just 8 years old. Currently Wiliams is ranked number 1 in the world for ballroom and number 2 in Latin.
Wiliams announced in June 2009 that she will be relolcating to America to position herself at the American Ballet Academy as a Principal dancer in Miami. Isabella's Australian Story is set to Air in Early 2010 on the ABC Network.
