After a couple more racing and tests days he was up to speed and fighting strong with his team behind him.
Guiliana's racing career has started off with an Engilsh team called Motaworld Racing, Motaworld Racing have asked him to try and sit in with them for the 2010 Formula BMW season in Europe.
Early years
Steel Guiliana was born in Gosford, New South Wales, son of Steve and Lyn Guiliana. Steve being local Formula Ford driver from the 1980's. Guiliana started his relationship with motorsport at a young age. Much later Steel listed Formula One World Champions Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Formula Ford Australian Champion Steve Guiliana ( his dad )as his childhood heroes. Starting out racing Karts in 1998, taking up Open wheeled cars at the age of 17 in 2009.
With Guiliana starting karts at the age of 7 and only being a small name in Australia, but with his passion for the sport all that changed within a couple of years of club days at his local tracks such as; Oran Park, Eastern Creek and Newcastle. In 2001 Steel Guiliana made hes mark in Australia winning his first Australian State Championship in Queensland, after winning his first there was no doubt he knew what he was doing. Over the next few years Steel carried on winning different Australian State Championships, all in all he won six.
In 2004 Guiliana took hes interest in karts and his dreams to Europe where the competition is more competitive, to make a name for himself over there in the karting arena; this is where his International career begin. After a few competitive showings, Guiliana finally made his mark in Europe during the European Championship, placing 2nd overall in 2006. With the vice European Championship under his belt as well as six Australian State title, there was know doubt anymore he was making his name bigger.
Towards the end of 2006, Steel Qualified for the World Championships in Portugal. Heading back overseas for his chance to become the worlds best karter at the age of 15. In the end he finished 10th in the World from starting 34th on the grid, unlucky for Steel, he didnt know engine difficulties would hit to slow him down to 10th from 8th.
A year on and the name Steel was recongised throughout all the top karting teams. The European-based Intrepid kart team asked Steel to move out of home and live in Austria, Europe for a year on his own to become there official factory driver. Moving his career to Europe at the age of 15 was a big move and scared his family but they knew he had to do it and so did he to carry on pursuing his dreams of becoming a Formula One racing World Champion.
With Intrepid pushing Steel to his full potentual, there was no doubt they had choose the right racer for the job. During his 12 month stay in Austria Guiliana did a lot of testing development and limited racing while still qualifying and placing in the top 6.
After reaching the top level of karting, Guiliana set his sights on a coverted BMW scholarship to compete in the 2009 Formula BMW Pacific championship, the entry level to open wheel racing.
After impressing BMW judges not only on his natural speed but also his technique, He was awarded with a 50,000 Euro scholarship which also came with driver coaching, a fitness coach, media training as well as mandatory paddock club appearences for the guests of the BMW Formula 1 team.
