Phyllis Mecham

Phyllis Mecham (b. March 23 1943) Australian Netballer. Phyllis Mecham was born in Bankstown in New South Wales Australia during the Second World War. She was a talented sportswoman who excelled in all types of sports. Her favourite was Netball where she played goal attack. She played with several local teams and was selected to play for the New South Wales state team in 1961. The highlight of her career was selection to the Australia team in 1964 (to play New Zealand in Sydney). This did not end well for Phyllis as a knee injury sustained late in the game forced her retirement from representative Netball. Phyllis remained loyal to the sport and devoted her time to coaching. She is a life member of the Bankstown District Netball Association.
