International Big History Association (IBHA) is a non-profit organization established to promote the unified and interdisciplinary study and teaching of the history of Cosmos, Earth, Life, and Humanity. This academic field is increasingly known as big history. The IBHA was founded at the Geological Observatory of Coldigioco, Marche Region, Italy, on 20 August 2010. The IBHA home office is located at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Allendale, Michigan (USA). The founding members Walter Alvarez, Craig Benjamin, Cynthia Stokes Brown, David Christian, Lowell Gustafson, Barry Rodrigue and Fred Spier, all scholars active in big history, constitute the Provisional Executive Board. In 2012, the first elections for board members are scheduled during the first IBHA Big History Conference to be held in August at Grand Valley State University. IBHA seeks to stimulate the global teaching of and research into big history in collaboration with educators and scholars worldwide using up-to-date technology. IBHA is currently working on formulating a series of proposals that can further these aims.
