The Indian Institute of Building Designers Association (IIBD) is a professional organization for Building Designers in Uttar Pradesh, India. Located in Sitapur, it IIBD offers education, government advocacy, community redevelopment, and public outreach to support the Building Design profession and improve its public image. The IIBD also works with other members of the design and construction team to help coordinate the building industry. History The Indian Institute of Building Designers Association was founded in Sitapur in 2004 by a group of 10 Building Designers to "Advance the role of Indian Building design professionals in practice", "Provide Technical Awareness to the public about all types of constructions.", "Encourage Building designers to pursue careers as professional engineers and design professionals", "Promote recognition of member’s professional excellence, service, projects and contributions", "Consolidate the expertise of members into a single focus for representation on a national level" and "advance their professional skills." This initial grup included Ar. Engr. Ambarish Srivastava, Er. Ajai Kumar Srivastava, Er. Anupam Kumar Srivastava, Er. Saiyad Murtaza H. Rizvi, Er. Vivek Kapoor, Er. Akhilesh Srivastava, Bldg. Dgnr. Umesh P. Srivastava, Bldg. Dgnr. Desh Deepak Srivastava, Bldg. Dgnr. Md. Rehan Sayeed Khan and Er. Anil Verma. Ar. Engr. Ambarish Srivastava is serving as a founder/first president at IIBD. They drafted a constitution and bylaws by July, 2004, under the name IIBD. The members signed the constitution and it was registered by Sept. 22, 2004 under society act XXI of 1860 at Vikas Deep Lucknow (Regn. N.-1359-2004-2005). The IIBD is headquartered at 91, Agha colony, Civil Lines Sitapur. Organization Membership IIBD members adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct intended to assure clients, the public, and colleagues of an Building Designer's dedication to the highest standards in professional practice. There are Seven levels of membership in the IIBD The Society shall have the following categories of members: (i) Honorary Fellows, (ii) Fellow Members, (iii) Member (iv) Associate , (v) Associate Intern Members, (vi) Student Members (vii) Sustaining Members. The IIBD’s most prestigious honor is the designation of a member as a FIIBD Fellow of the Indian Institute of Building Designers Association. This membership is awarded to members who have made contributions of national significance to the profession. Service By speaking with a united voice, IIBD Building Designers influence government practices that affect the practice of the profession and the quality of Indian life. A committee named Construction Workers Registration Board ‘CWRB’ is also established for the registration and welfare of construction workers related to building construction industry. After assessment of the competency and skill of the construction worker, it provides a certificate to construction worker in his respective categories. Professionalism The IIBD serves its members with professional development opportunities, contract documents that are the model for the design and construction industry, professional and design information services, personal benefits, and client-oriented resources. In contributing to their profession and communities, IIBD members also participate in professional interest areas from design to regional and urban development and professional academies that are both the source and focus of new ideas and responses. Public education The IIBD attempts to meet the needs and interests of the nation's Building Designers and the public by raising public awareness of the value of Building Design and the importance of good design. Honors and awards The IIBD president Ambarish Srivastava was awarded Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for outstanding services, achievements and contribution in year 2007.
