Originally from the Chicago south side projects Ida-B Wells he had a rough childhood being arrested multiple times for distributing drugs and carrying a firearm, but he eventually moved from Chicago to the west suburbs of Bolingbrook. He started writing and producing music and quickly started getting recognition from friends and other entertainers. Illy Da King was known as "Illy", a nickname that stuck with him since elementary school, which eventually developed into his stage name, "Illy Da King".

He didn't further his career until he made a life changing decision to move to Atlanta GA. There he was introduced to music industries leaders. He has traveled the world with his music.
