Husain Kadodia

Husain Kadodia () is a scholar and teacher of Islamic Law based in South Africa. He is also a collector of Islamic manuscripts and books.
Biography
Husain Kadodia was born in South Africa to a household known for its commitment to Islam. After graduating from high school he spent a few months in the Indian Subcontinent in the tabligh effort. Upon returning from this journey he enrolled in Madrasah Arabia Islamia, an Islamic University, in Azaadville (near Johannesburg), South Africa to pursue an in-depth study of the Islamic sciences, namely the Tafsir of the Qur'an, Hadith, Islamic Jurisprudence according to the Hanafi school of Islamic Law, Principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), Aqidah, Mantiq (Logic) and Kalam (theology), Arabic Grammar and other subjects.
While a student in Azaadville, Kadodia excelled academically and due to his habit of spending long hours in the library, the keys of the library were entrusted to him and he gained a reputation among students and teachers alike for being a dedicated student. During his stay in Madrasah Arabia Islamia Azaadville, he developed a close relationship with his teachers. One of those teachers was the Shaykh al-Hadith (senior hadith lecturer) of the Madrasah, Shaykh Fadhl al-Rahman A’zami, who is also his spiritual guide (shaykh) in the science of tasawwuf (sufism).
Kadodia graduated from the madrasah in Azaadville in 2001 where he was awarded the 'Almiyya certification. He then left for the deserts of Mauritania where he spent time studying the Islamic sciences under the scholars of that region. In addition to Mauritania, he also spent time studying in Syria among other countries.
Upon returning from Mauritania, he enrolled in the Ifta course at Madrasah Ina’amiyyah in Camperdown, South Africa under Mufti Ebrahim Desai. He successfully completed the Takhassus fi' al-Ifta course which culminated in his answering of approximately 1,500 fatwas. After completing of this course, he was officially granted the title of Mufti by the institute.
Kadodia has traveled to over 25 countries around the world. Amongst others he has traveled to Turkey, Chad, Senegal, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc. All this is in the effort to spread Islam. He also goes almost every year for the Egyptian book fair which is one of the biggest Islamic fairs around the world.
Kadodia has also completed a course in the study of Islamic manuscripts. He is one of the leading collectors of Islamic manuscripts around the world. He has traveled extensively in the Arab world as well as the Indian Subcontinent in order to obtain rare and valuable manuscripts. In fact, he is known to have the most manuscripts in Hanafi fiqh in the world. He is also perhaps one of the most learned in determining Arabic prints of books.
At present, he conducts research in Islamic law and teaches Ifta students of Madrasah Ina’amiyyah in Camperdown, South Africa. He is also currently working on reproducing ancient manuscripts. In addition to this, he is the Ameer (President) of Sunniforum.com, an online discussion forum and community and a contributor to the Deoband blog. He runs a book shop in Durban and also is the official person to purchase books for the Al-Azhar academy in England.
