Controversies In January 2010, Redding Searchlight published a series of articles in which they investigated the faith healings at Bethel Church, in Redding California". In this article Adam Short, former Editor-in-Chief of HealingHerald.org was interviewed by Amanda Waters about his experiences at Bethel, on mission trips and specifically about the goal of HealingHerald.org. In the article Adam Short shared a testimony of faith healing and said the goal of the website is for people to be encouraged by the good news and not question it. "Nobody ever questions bad news," he said. This interview triggered great controversy in the Redding, California area and in the internet community. Harriet Hall of sciencebasedmedicine.org and a columist for O, another person interviewed in the article presented the argument that such miracles "are never properly documented or investigated because the people involved want and need to believe. Without evidence, the claims ring hollow" adding "Faith healing can be deadly when patients are led to believe they don't need conventional medical treatment." Further writing her own article at sciencebasedmedicine.org referencing the Redding Searchlight article and HealingHerald.org saying, "Faith healing is based on belief and is about as far as you can get from science-based medicine, but it is not exempt from science."
