HD 156279 b is a confirmed, jupiter-size, gas giant exoplanet, which is uninhabitable. It orbits the star HD 156279, along with HD 156279 c, located about 119.1 light years (36.5 parsecs) away from Earth. Discovery HD 156279 b had its discovery publicly announced in 2011, and was discovered using the radial velocity method. Characteristics HD 156279 b has a mass of roughly 9.7 that of Jupiter and an estimated radius of 1.11 that of Jupiter. It has an orbital period of 131.1 days and orbits just 0.49 AU from its star. This is twice as close as the Earth to the Sun. HD 156279 b has an orbital eccentricity of 0.708, meaning it has a rather eliptical orbit, and for most of it, orbits outside the star's habitable zone.
