Harry B. Flood Middle School is one of two middle schools in Stratford, Connecticut, USA. Flood serves students in grades 7-8 and is part of Stratford Public School System. It is named after Harry Barlow Flood, whom served as Stratford Town Manager from 1945-1968. Chapel Street Elementary School is located at 380 Chapel Street, and is geographically contiguous. Academics Flood is noted to have not met the requirements for Adequate Yearly Progress under the Federal No Child Left Behind Act for the 2008-09 school year. The school rose to "safe harbor" status in 2010 and with similar scores in 2011 will be considered complaint with No Child Left Behind. Pool Flood's pool is the only indoor municipal pool in Stratford. It is primarily used for swimming instruction and life guard training. It is also used as the "home" pool for both the Frank Scott Bunnell High School and the Stratford High School swim teams and diving teams. Power generation The school's architecture is almost entirely windowless, and subsequently it uses more electricity than any other school in the district. In 2009, 290 solar panels were installed on the school's roof with an expected annual generation of approximately 50,000 kWh.
