Harmony Assistant

Harmony Assistant is a scorewriter program, created by Myriad Software for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It is used by composers and arrangers. In addition to editing and printing scores, Harmony Assistant can also play music back using MIDI or sampled sounds (the GOLD Sound Base).
Melody Assistant is a simpler, cut down version of Harmony Assistant, with reduced support for external file formats.
History
Harmony Assistant is developed by French programmers Didier and Olivier Guillion . Development (done on in C language and assembly language) was started in 1982. They were writing software for music and multimedia. They are located in Toulouse.
The program was released to the public in 1996. The Melody Assistant software is released as shareware. Users of the software and programmers collaborate to improve and evolve the software.
Features
Harmony Assistants primary function is the creation, editing and printing of musical scores. It supports a large number of music notations, enabling even the most complex of scores (such as modern orchestral music) to be reproduced.
Additionally, it allows scores to be played back or turned into MIDI or audio files. A range of sampled sounds can be purchased as an extra as part of the GOLD sound base.
Language versions
Versions of Harmony Assistant are available in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.
Extensions
Individual users can extend the functionality of Harmony Assistant using MyrScript .
Add-ons
Add-ons for Harmony Assistant which are available include the GOLD sound base, Virtual Singer to sing lyrics, and OMeR to scan paper music scores.
Users
Harmony Assistant is used by professionals and amateurs for composing, arranging and writing out music.
