SocialStrap is a social networking platform written in PHP and distributed under the Proprietary software license. SocialStrap features many tools common to social-networking sites. It allows users to set up a profile, upload photos, link videos and connect with other members. Users can communicate with each other through messages and share content that includes text, website URLs, images, and video content. They can set up profiles with avatar, cover picture and a basic profile information. Platform is using following system to manage member's relationships. Users can create groups to share their common interests and pages for entities like celebrities, businesses or brands. Technology The SocialStrap platform is developed using PHP and Zend Framework. It uses MySQL as a database connected with the application using PDO database driver. It will run on Apache web server that provides minimum PHP version 5.3 or higher. Fronted is built using . Add-ons Add-ons extend or override the base functionality of SocialStrap platform. This feature allows developers to write 3rd party add-ons. Add-ons can be managed and configured by the webmaster through the add-ons panel. Internationalization The interface is currently translated to: English, Spanish, Deutsche, Chinese, Italian, Nederlands, Portuguese and Serbian language. Most languages are contributed and maintained by the users and webmasters themselves. Comparisons Despite its recent publication date, the SocialStrap platform, according to Alexa global page rank, has overrun five other platforms from the social networking software comparison list including eXo Platform, Jamroom, ImpressCMS, Tiki Wiki and Kune.
