Muhammad Bashir Opel ( Born 4 May 1942 - 3 July 2012) was a Government Officer scale 18 Works Manager Mechanical Engineer in Pakistan Railways Steel Shop Lahore. He has worked in several countries like Zimbabwe, Dubai and Jordan as an Engineer. Personal life Muhammad Bashir Opel was born in India on 4 May 1942 village Amritsar. His father Ghulam Muhammad born in 1912 in Amritsar was a carpenter. He had four children. Two daughters and two sons. Ghulam Muhammad migrated to Pakistan after partition with his family and settled in Lahore and got job in Pakistan Railways Carriage Shop as a carpenter. Bashir Opel started going to school and did his Matriculation in 1960 from Government Baghbanpura School Lahore. After that he did four years diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Government of West Pakistan Department of Education and The Pakistan Western Railway and was appointed as an Assistant Chairman in Pakistan Railways steel shop in 1965. He was promoted to Foreman in 1969. In 1975 worked in Dubai Ahli Steel Company Dubai as Chief Mechanical Engineer. He worked in Al Hussein's Iron Factories Jordan in 1979 and again in Dubai in Gulf Steel Mills LTD in 1983 and in Ministry of Manpower Planing and Development of Zimbabwe in 1985. On the basis of his foreign experience he was promoted to Assistant Works Manager (AWM) in 1992 (Scale 17). Promoted as Works Manager: He was promoted to Works Manager (WM) (Scale 18) in 1998. Works Manager is the final and top most post in Pakistan Railway's any shop. He retired in 2000. On 3 July 2012 he died of liver failure in Sheikh Zayed hospital Lahore Pakistan. Family He has four sons and one daughter.
