Gary Brooks Faulkner (born 1958?) is an American from California who was arrested on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 by local police in the Chitral region of Pakistan. According to the Pakistani authorities, he was carrying a pistol, a sword, night-vision equiptment, Christian religious books and hashish, and was on a mission to personally hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden. Police said it was Faulkner’s third visit to the area in three years. If the allegations are proven true, it would be the first instance of a bounty-hunter being detained in pursuit of the $50 miliion reward offered by US authorities. Arrest in Pakistan Faulkner arrived in the mountain border province of Chitral on June 3, accompanied by a security guard (mandatory for foreigners entering the area) according to Pakistani police. After hotel security guards noticed he had vanished on June 6, a search party was dispatched. After a 10-hour manhunt Faulkner was found from the Afghan border, according to police official Mumtaz Ahmad Khan.<ref name="CSM" /> Current Status Since his arrest, he has since been transferred to police custody in Peshawar, capital of the Khyber Pakthunkwa province. As of June 15, the US consulate in Peshawar is aware that a US citizen has been detained and is seeking consular access.<ref name="CSM" /> Public Reaction US bloggers have latched on to his story, calling Faulkner an "American ninja" and a "Christian warrior. They call him a legend, a prophet."<ref name="CSM" /> 4chan /b/tards from the infamous forum 4chan claims that Gary came to the forum for advise on what equipment and weapons are necessary for him to bring in to hunt down Bin Laden. Thinking of it as a joke, they advised him to bring along a set of night-goggles and a sword.
