<big>Background</big>
GangDan Pan was born in September, 1925 in the suburban area of HuangShan, one of the major cities in Anhui Province. GangDan Pan's father was a local merchant and held a small business to support his family of four, which is relatively a small family in the 1920s. GangDan Pan's mother was a stay-home wife and a very kindly and supportive mother. After GangDan Pan graduated from a local teachers' college, he became a high school teacher in his town. GangDan Pan quitted his job as a high school teacher soon after the Chinese civil war began and worked a confidential secretary in the People's Liberation Army General Staff Department. In his military years, GangDan Pan joined the Foreign Languages College of People's Liberation Army, which is the former of The University of International Relations of China, and got his bachelor degree of art in English literature. GangDan Pan later went to Renmin University of China, the Open University of China and HangZhou DianZi University, got his other three bachelor degrees in Accounting, Chinese Literature and International Economics.
<big>Career</big>
GangDan Pan was one of the first batch of Senior Accountants of The People's Republic of China. GangDan Pan worked as chief accountant and CFO in his whole career for several large state-owned enterprises and major private corporations. GangDan Pan and his department were highly recognized not only in enterprises but also in the Chinese whole accounting related fields. He also worked for Chinese Accounting and Auditing academics as president, director and general secretary in both Beijing, the capital city of China, and in Shenzhen, GuangZhou. During his career, GangDan Pan had numerous publications concerning accounting theories and microeconomics. Thirteen of his papers were published on national journals; four of which won the best paper rewards and another two papers saved enterprises from crisis.
In 1996, GangDan Pan was hired by Shenzhen HuaLun Investment Corporations as a specialist and visited the United States of America for business survey. Based on his observation from the study tour to the United States and his previous experience, GangDan Pan wrote the book SAFT The Method for Accounting cost .
In January 2001, GangDan Pan established his own business consulting firm—The QiYan Consulting corporation. He was the holder of the corporate executive and president.
<big>Personal life</big>
In 1956, GangDan Pan married HuiRu Su, the head of a small kindergarten. The couple had one daughter and two sons. Their daughter MuYan Pan currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. Their first son MuTao Pan holds the position of CFO in a large high-tech company in Beijing. Their second son MuXu Pan works in the Ministry of Commerce as a basic level employee.
<big>Philanthropy</big>
GangDan Pan was an active participant in charity. He helped with the development of education and tourism in his hometown QiYunShan Borogh, HuangShan. GangDan Pan used his special introducing several major commercial projects to QiYunShan Borough and donated greatly in the development of local economics.
He also provided help and consultation for the youth in QiYunShan Borough. Under his support, many young people found their way out of poverty.
