Frequencycast

FrequencyCast is an Internet radio show distributed as a podcast from the UK, covering technology and digital TV news.
FrequencyCast started broadcasting in April 2006, and is hosted by Carl, with co-host Pete. Shows typically last 30 minutes, and the show's content is determined by the show's listeners. In many of the shows, Pete is seem to be educating Carl by introducing a new piece of technology. The mix of a technophile and a technophobe is designed to appeal to technology fans as well as novices.
The presenters have both worked for UK commercial radio stations, and use standard radio production techniques to create their shows. Uniquely, this means that their shows, originally created as podcasts, are now syndicated to a number of FM, Student, Hospital Radio and online radio stations, such as Felixstowe Radio, TCR 106.8, Arty's Party and Sheffield Live 93.2
FrequencyCast is free and is available for subscription and automatic download through iTunes, on a number of UK radio stations, via a dedicated mobile phone application and on Internet radio devices.
Show Format
The shows are created on a monthly basis and follow a traditional radio format. A short run-down of technology news headlines starts the show, followed by Focus, which takes a topic suggested by listeners and explains the technology in question. Previous topics have included media streaming, broadband providers, eBook readers, data backups and online TV services.
The presenters will frequently perform a "hands on" review of a product, before moving to the final section of the show, called Interaction. For this section, listeners are encouraged to email or text their questions, or leave a voicemail message to be broadcast in a future show.
In addition to the monthly shows, mid-month updates are released regularly to keep listeners up-to-date with news between shows.
Audio Guides
FrequencyCast also makes available a series of free product guides. These cover topics such as the UK Digital TV Switchover, the Amazon Kindle, mobile phone watches and how to configure the BT Home Hub.
Awards
In December 2010, FrequencyCast was awarded UK National Winner (Non Profit) in the European Podcast Awards.
