The James and Joe Show

The James and Joe Show is a comedy audio show in the UK starring James Ashford and Joe Berry. The show started in November 2010 on Forge Radio, and aired in weekly periods for months at a time throughout 2010 and in to 2011. In February 2011 The James and Joe Show was taken off air following the decision by Ashford and Berry to do a live show on Forge Radio without prior consent when the station was temporarily off-air.
Broadcast history
Radio shows
James Ashford and Joe Berry were both students in Sheffield when they were given a show on Forge Radio by Head of Programming Eleanor Hamed.
Controversy
When acting as 'Royal Correspondent' for Forge Radio, reporting on a visit to the University of Sheffield by the Queen and Prince Phillip, Ashford swore live on air. He said: '..and there is Prince Phillip, who still hasn't given me my Duke of Edinburgh Award, the bastard.' The James and Joe Show received two 'strikes' for this. Forge Radio operates a 'three strike' rules with DJs.
The content of the show was often questioned by senior members of Forge, including Ross Haymes, Head of Forge Radio. Despite further swearing and lewd content, the pair avoided getting a third strike.
The main controversy came after Ashford and Berry broadcast a live show without getting authority when the station was meant to be off air. They had entered the studios to record a podcast, but found the podcast studio occupied. They decided to broadcast an impromptu show, in which there was increased swearing and objectionable content.
Podcasts
Season one
The first series of Podcasts consisted mainly of recording of shows that had been broadcast live on Forge Radio. A number of Specials were also released, including a recording of the impromptu show. A 'Best Of' was released of the 2010 shows, and a final 'Retrospective' was released after they were sacked from Forge Radio.

Guests and other Appearances
Regular Guests

Corrie Corfield recorded a number of idents/stingers for the show, which can be heard in later episodes.
Recurring features and competitions
Found for a Pound
Found for a Pound is a popular feature that has been running since the early Forge Radio days. The idea is that James and Joe find the best item they can for £1.00 or under. Listeners contact the Show to vote on who they think found the best item. They also tell them their best deal of the week. The listener with the best deal wins both James and Joe's items.
Joe's Phone Pheature
Joe's Phone Pheature involved Joe performing a challenge set by James, over the phone in Sheffield city centre. Listeners were able to submit their challenges.
Shows taglines and multiple occurrences
After Joe accidentally said on an early Forge show 'You're listening to The James and Joe Show, coming on something..', the phrase has become a tagline for the show. It is repeated across a number of shows. In the first podcast of a non-live show, James tells listeners that they will be 'coming on something all the time now.'
James and Joe often replaced official Forge jingles with their own, beginning with James saying 'Forge Radio' in a classic radio voice, followed by Joe singing 'Forge radio' afterwards. The jingle received a lot of mixed feedback.
