Gaming Radio Network

Introduction
Gaming Radio Network (GRN) was started around a year ago (2007) with the creation of Total Gaming Radio, but the actual body or foundations for GRN was set in early 2003 with the creation of Eve-Radio, a internet radio station specifically designed for the space-scifi game Eve-Online. Back in 2003 a few people with a flare and love for enterainment, games and music set out with the creation of Eve-Radio, a community based internet radio station, run and funded community project powered by determination and drive of brining "Music Too the Masses". Since then the Gaming Radio Network team has gone from strength to strength with the creation of 3 other radio stations, Weathertop Radio a internet radio station created for the fantasy MMO The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, Booty Island Radio a dedicated internet radio station for the Historical MMO Pirates of the Burning Sea and most recently, Total Gaming Radio a hit internet radio station which was started to attempt the massive undertaking of broadcasting music to people in all games, to amuse and bringing informative reviews of the latest in gaming hardware/software.
Total Gaming Radio
Total Gaming Radio is a radio station with the soal goal of bringing music to the larger gaming community, while TGR has many ties and links with Eve-Radio and many of the staff have joint roles between the two stations Total Gaming Radio has a much larger goal of streaming live music too people from all walks of life that have an interest in Video Games. In adition to the radio station, Total Gaming Radio has several game servers specially hosted and admined for the listeners of the station.
Eve-Radio
Eve-Radio is dedicated to the online world of Eve-Online one of the leading space-scifi MMOs. As Eve-Online in many sences is a very community based game this has lead of the unquestionable success of Eve-Radio which is entirely staffed, funded and ran by volunteer members that all have a flare for music and a love for Eve-Online. Also the many of the DJs of Eve-Radio run weekly competitions and challenges to get people envolved with the community and its a good way for Eve-Online players to make some good ISK and have a lot of fun.
Jukebox
The Jukebox is a special program which was created to play music on-demand. This program allows users to effectively request songs they wish to hear, then these songs are placed in a "playlist" with other songs users have requested and are played out depending on first come, first served basis. This program takes over the internet radio staion mostly when there are no DJs on air, also you can listen to the Jukebox while DJs are on air just in case if their music style doesn't match yours.
Community
The heart and soul of Gaming Radio Network is its community. Since all the staff from both stations were at one point community members that took it apon themselves to apply for either DJ or Non-DJ possitions in the organisation, even people not directly tied into the organisation are the life blood of it. Listeners contribute by sending their very generous donations to help keep both radio stations on air also the people that create the forum art, radio sweepers and all the graphics are all from volunteers who feel they can contribute to help keep the stations going and alive.
Donations
The Gaming Radio Network depends entirely on listener donations and sponsorship. Donations are used to keep the radio stations on air and also helps to pay for things like community game servers, webspace, advertising and the all important Jukebox running so listeners can have a continued listening experience.
Recruitment
Gaming Radio Network is always recruiting. Recruitment is split into many different phases first; Do you wish to be a DJ? Or Non-DJ staff? Being a DJ covers doing atleast one show a week, most shows last from 2-3 hours long and the DJ can pick which slot in the schedule you wish (providing there is a slot free) also the DJ is entirely free regarding selection of music in his show and what topics he covers, as long as it is all in a good spirit and isn't too offensive. The main jobs of Non-DJ staff is primarly maintaining the radio stations systems and game servers, this can range from admining a server too make sure everyone is being friendly and respectfull to helping reprogram the Jukebox/schedulator or even just helping out DJs that are having technical problems.
Recruitment is normally broken up into:
*
*Initial Email/Respone - This is you sending an email to the GRN recruitment team stating your intentions and them responding saying they are interested in what you can bring to the station.
*
*An Interview - This will normally be a one to one chat with either a recruitment officer or one of the bosses of GRN.
*
*Trial Period - This will normally spand a few weeks and for DJs this will be judged on the quality of your shows (normall around 4 good shows will get you accepted), and as for potential Non-DJ staff you will also be judged on your actual positive input, but if you apply as a Non-DJ staff you should try and pick a certain "field" of which to work in.
* Acceptance - This is a purely cerimonial event just make sure you don't get easily offended, remember you will be "The new guy".
Projects
The Gaming Radio Network Magazine! Gaming Radio Network has made their very own E-zine, this magazine contains detailed information about game reviews, news and general talk around GRN.
