GPS-Trace

The GPS-Trace project, a complex system of GPS/GLONASS monitoring, is used for searching, monitoring or controlling over any objects. This real-time system may find the child, pet, car or any other object, equipped with a GPS-tracker, and display it on the map in the browser installed on your computer or mobile phone.
More than one thousand users and 750 devices have been registered by March 2009. 69 device types are supported. About 30 users and 50 devices are connected at every instant. Traffic is 500 unique users per day.
A free registration is available in a separate branch of the project - the GPS-Trace Orange, after that it is possible to use free resources for personal purposes. Another separate branch of the project - GPS-Trace B2B, is a service for corporate users with a lots of reports for the fuel control and the work of a variety of sensors and CAN-bus.
How does it work?
Users
The GPS-Trace Orange service is of the main interest to the users, because it is free and available for use in the entire world. Majority of clients used this service are residents of CIS.
Registration on the GPS-Trace Orange service is realizing directly on the site. You can connect to the server and send your tracker, AVL equipment or PDA in a few moments after registration.
If you want to register on the GPS-Trace B2B, to use the extended features, you should write a letter to the Administration of the company and confirm the successful testing the GPS-Trace Orange.
Help newbie
There is a detailed documentation with examples for each project. Documentation is written in accessible language and need minimal computer skills. Documentation is implemented on Wiki engine and is updated regularly. User interface sections are available in two languages: English and Russian.
Where to see unit
You can use any browser installed on your computer for access to the project. Administration of the project ensures the service is working in the following browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Opera 9.5 and above, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and above, and Google Chrome. All work in one window and do not require installing any additional plug-in.
The main window is divided into two parts: the working area, where you should specify the action performed, and the map where you can see the controlled object. You can perform online monitoring of the objects at any time. The currency of his position will be determined by the frequency of sending the data from device (a trackers, a car terminal) to the server.
Functional
With free registration, a user can:
* connect own device;
* manage it via SMS and GPRS;
* group by some characteristics (e. g. family, friends, neighbors, etc.)
* get access from mobile phone to own group;
* get tracks on the web-interface;
* get list of the all received messages on the web-interface;
* use maps from different map servers (WebGIS-3, Yandex Maps, OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Microsoft Live Maps);
* add points of interest to the map: the labels and markers (POI);
* realize targeted search on the project maps (WebGIS-3);
* receive on-line notifications on-screen browser, and SMS messages to mobile phones;
* create/edit geozones, also notifications of the input/location/out of them.
Limitations
GPS-Trace Orange service as a free service has limitations:
* You can connect only one device per account;
* You can get only three free SMS per month;
* You can create up to 5 shared groups, 5 notifications and 10 geozones;
* Inactive within 3 months account will be removed.
Concise history
The GPS-Trace project began its existence in July 2008, when the company Gurtam Software started the project and opened to all users free service GPS-Trace Orange. The project is based on the personal development of the company a platform Wialon B3.
Gurtam Software Company started its existence in 2004 and has managed to release three platforms for satellite monitoring, two of which Wialon B2 and Wialon B3 are now very popular in the CIS countries and Europe.
The project was started up the following projects and became available next features:
* July 15, 2008 - started up free GPS-Trace Orange service;
* August 27, 2008 - for GPS-Trace Orange has been made possible access from mobile phone;
* October 17, 2008 - started up GPS-Trace B2B service for corporate users in the test mode;
* December 20, 2008 - for GPS-Trace B2B has been made possible access from mobile phone or Pocket PC;
* January 8, 2009 - made possible the deployment and maintenance of its own satellite monitoring system.
