Kill Ball

Kill ball is a game played in a swimming pool using an inflatable ball. While similar in some ways to water polo it is unique in the extent of violence that is involved in the game.
Playing Kill Ball
Kill ball can be played in any swimming pool, usually where the lane lines have been removed, or a diving well.
Rules
Part of what makes kill ball different from many other sports is that there are generally no defined rules. It is often accepted that there is no biting and no hair pulling (when women are playing). It is also understood that a player should recognize when another player might be drowning and should let that person up for air. Rules that generally apply in other organized sports are not a part of kill ball and for that reason violence is not only inherent in the game but is encouraged. Punching and kicking are often parts of the game as well as wrestling, since a large portion of the game is spent trying to gain posession of the ball by getting it away from other players.
Scoring Points
In kill ball a point is scored not by making a goal but by moving the ball to the opponents side of the pool, by passing or carrying, and holding it on the gutter for five seconds. A game is usually played to an agreed upon score.
Posession
The first posession is determined by putting the ball in the center of the play area, similar to dodgeball, with both teams starting at opposite ends of the pool and swimming for the ball. After that the initial posession after each point goes to the none scoring team.
Officials
There is no officiating in kill ball since the only dispute can be about length of time that the ball is held on the gutter and that is handled by counting out loud and an honor system is employed which means giving the other team there point when they have scored. Generally there is no problem with points being disputed since it is obvious if a point has actually been scored.
Equipment
The only equipment necessary to play kill ball is a soft inflatable ball. This could be a water polo ball, dodgeball, volleyball or some other ball.
Teams
Teams are determined by captains and are generally mixed with both men and women on the teams except in the case of an all male or all female swim team. However a variation can be played with men vs. women.
