Eddy Salazar (born Eduardo Alfredo Salazar Hidalgo) is a bilingual American actor/producer from Miami, Florida.
Career
Salazar has spent most of his acting career on stage, but has recently made a jump into film and film making. He is the founder of Welcome Home Productions, LLC.
Theatre
By December 2005, Salazar was performing with the Miami affiliation of Shakespeare in the Park as Gregory in "Romeo and Juliet," Demetrius in "Midsummer Night's Dream," Sebastian in "Twelfth Night," and Benvolio in the first full-length, literally translated Spanish production of "Romeo and Juliet" ('Romeo y Julieta') in Florida.
After his tenure with Shakespeare in the Park, Salazar joined the EDGE Theatre company, performing in numerous contemporary plays until moving to Los Angeles, California in 2007. He has since studied and graduated from the Stella Adler Studio in Los Angeles, where actors such as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Benicio del Toro, Harvey Keitel, and Mark Ruffalo studied in the past.
Film and Welcome Home Productions, LLC
In December 2010, Salazar created the film production company Welcome Home Productions, LLC. He partnered with Elusive Entertainment and Dream Cinema Productions to produce the low budget independent film "The Extra" starring Tyrone Power, Jr., John Saxon, Tom Tangen, Angela Oakenfold, and Eddy Salazar himself. After working on several independent films, Salazar teamed up again with Elusive Entertainment and Dream Cinema Productions to create "Mansion of Blood," starring Salazar, Gary Busey, Terry Moore, Carla Laemmle, Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff, Sarah Alami and Jennifer Tapiero. Busey was removed from the picture June 15 due to numerous on-set complaints.
Salazar wrote, produced, and starred in "The Insomniac", the first film to be completely funded by Welcome Home Productions. The film is being released on January 21, 2014 through Grand Entertainment.
Personal life
Salazar is currently in the process of writing a self-help, autobiographical book tentatively titled "The Change Revolution," which covers his personal grieving process after losing his grandparents, step-parents, and biological parents by the time he was 25. They all died of natural causes.
