David Soutter

David Soutter is a United Kingdom politician, associated with the Referendum Party and the Veritas Party.
Soutter first joined the Conservative Party in 1972, working the General Election in October 1974, at the age of only 16, as an aide to Brian Keefe, the Conservative Candidate for Ormskirk.
He was subsequently part of the Conservative Party team that almost unseated Robert Kilroy-Silk in General Election 1979, Ormskirk Constituency.
He rose through the ranks to become a senior member of the Young Conservatives from 1976 to 1985. He was named Chairman of Merseyside Young Conservatives, member of North West Area Young Conservatives Council, and Member of NEC. He held various Conservative Party officers in the senior organisation before resigning from the Conservative Party in early 1990s over the Maastricht.
Soutter was later appointed National Agent for Wales by the Referendum Party and Deputy Campaign Manager for Wales.
He was made Chief of Staff of New Alliance, an umbrella group of eurosceptic organisations, from 1997 to 1999. He co-organised with Paul Sharp the New Alliance Forum in London 1997, the largest gathering of anti European Union organisations and members either before or since, attended by over 500 people. Soutter spoke at the forum on behalf of the Referendum Party.
He has worked for both the farmers and fuel protester lobbies.
Soutter was Chief of Staff and Campaign director to the Veritas Party. At the time, he was considered Robert Kilroy-Silk's spin doctor. He resigned from his post in the party in 2005, to new Veritas leader Patrick Eston, but remains a member of the party. He has close links to Jonathan Aitken's PR spokesperson Ashley Merry.
Soutter now works in the financial irregularity legal market in the UK and is a former director of a claims management company named Finance Reclaim Ltd.
