David Scott Holden

David Scott Holden (born June 16, 1959) is an American Democratic politician and candidate for the Democratic primary in  for the US House of Representatives.
Holden was the Democratic nominee for Florida’s 19th congressional district in the 2018 election, losing to incumbent Republican Frances Rooney. In December 2019, he announced his campaign to run for the Democratic nomination for the US House of Representatives in the 2020 election.
2018 US House Campaign
David Holden defeated Todd James Truax in the Democratic primary for U.S. House Florida District 19 on August 28, 2018 with 67.9% of the vote. He was defeated in the general election against Francis Rooney on November 6, 2018 winning 37% of the vote. Holden’s 2018 campaign was notably monitored by Russia as discovered by Deputy Campaign Manager noticing significant web traffic from an IP address near the Kremlin in Moscow.
2020 US House Campaign
David Holden announced his candidacy for Florida’s 19th Congressional District in December 2019. He joins 11 other candidates for Francis Rooney’s open seat, one Democrat, 9 Republicans and 1 independent. Holden having run in the previous 2018 race for the same seat has more fundraising experience than any other candidate currently running for the open seat. Holden participated in a candidate forum for Florida Congressional District Seat 19 February 20, 2020 sponsored by The Progressive Club of the Islands.
David Holden participated in a "Community Conversation" hosted by WINK News along with his primary opponent and six of the Republican candidates also running for the open seat in Florida's 19th Congressional District.
Holden was defeated in the Florida primary on August 18, 2020 by Cindy Banyai.

David Holden has been endorsed by the Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida (DECF) and the water activist organization, Bullsugar.org. Sara McFadden FL House 106 Candidate has also endorsed David Holden.
