Larry Drown

Larry Drown is a Democratic politician from the U.S. state of Vermont. In 2004, he ran against Independent and then socialist opponent Representative Bernie Sanders for Vermont's at-large congressional district against the will of his party. Drown came in third, behind Sanders and Republican Greg Parke, winning 7.1% of the vote.
In 2006, when Sanders vacated his House seat in order to run for Senate, Drown planned another campaign challenging Sanders. However, Sanders ran in the Democratic primary election against Drown and defeated him, the first time Sanders ever registered as a Democrat then turned down the Democratic nomination. This was done to ensure that Sanders did not have a Democratic opponent. In both of his challenges to Sanders, Drown did not receive significant support from national or state Democrats.
