Darren Redick
Darren Redick was born on February 14, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dance career
Darren's mother was a ballet teacher. He studied dance with her in Reston, Virginia, and subsequently became a professional ballet dancer.
He trained at North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC before moving to New York to study at the School of American Ballet.
In 1987, he accepted a traineeship with the Cleveland Ballet. He stayed there for one year before moving on to the National Ballet of Canada as an apprentice.
During this time Redick took part in the New York International Ballet Competition where he danced alongside Jose Manuel Carreno and Maximillian Guerra among others.
In 1988, he joined the Norwegian Ballet for a further year before making his way to the New Jersey Ballet.
In 1991, he joined the English National Ballet. This was followed by a place in the production of 'Carousel' at the National Theatre, London. This lasted from 1992 to 1994 and saw Darren as an ensemble member. 1995 and Darren went out on tour with Sylvie Guillem across France, as company manager and dancer.
Radio career
Following his dance career, Darren pursued new jobs Journalism/Radio.
Darren started his 2nd career, in Radio,in 1997 behind the scenes as a UK Contributor to the afternoon drive time programme (Stevens and Core) for WMAL Washington DC, as well as rock show presenter for Wey Valley Radio in Alton, Hants.
Further work took Darren to Thames Radio (AC) UK as a Mid-Morning Presenter as well as presenting the Saturday Rock Show.
From July 2000 to present day Darren has been a contributor to Planet Rock (Classic Rock) in the UK, organising and interviewing many artists as well as editing interviews for air.
For 2 years from July 2000 Darren worked for Star FM in the UK as a Mid-morning and Weekend Breakfast show presenter.
A stint with Liberty Radio followed for about 9 months which saw Darren working as an Evening Show Presenter as well as presenting the Friday Rock Show.
Darren worked for Reading Evening Post (UK) as a copy-editor. He has also worked at Total Rock (Active Rock) in the UK from August 1994 through to January 2004, where he presented an Evening show.
Darren moved back to the States and so he began working for Y101 in Richmond, Virginia, USA in 2003.
Also during that time, he became involved in teaching ballet to youngsters at his parents school The Conservatory Ballet in Reston, Virginia. There he also took on the responsibilities of General Manager.
In 2004, Darren moved on to 94.7 The Arrow (a Classic Rock station) in Washington DC.
Upon returning to the UK, Darren came to join Planet Rock in October 2008, where he now presents an afternoon show every weekday. He began as On-Air talent presenting 'double-shots' and was then promoted to weekday afternoons following the departure of DJ Mark Jeeves.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington DC.
Married to former ballerina, Elizabeth Redick. Has two children.
