Copeley undergraduate housing

Copeley Housing is a part of on-grounds housing. It specifically caters to upperclassman this consists of second, third, and fourth years. It includes eleven buildings. Each building contains three floors with two suites on each floor. The building number are 829-839 and each suite is designated by a number 1-6. The housing rate for 2014-2015 is 6660 dollars for a single and 5930 dollars for a double. There are four laundry facilities connected to the buildings. These laundry facilities are only accessible with a student identification card. There are lighted pathways surrounding the area which includes emergency phones, which connects you with campus police automatically.
It is one of the few housing options that are set up in a suite style similarly to Faulkner and Lambeth. The kitchen provides an oven, stove, refrigerator, sink, and cabinets. There is a vent beside all stoves. The dining room comes with a dining room table that seats six. The living room is furnished with a sofa and two arm chairs. There are two end tables with lamps along with a television stand and coffee table. In addition, the suite includes one full bath and a half bath. Each suite has two rooms with the option of having two to a room or just one. The spacious rooms come fully furnished as well with a bed, wardrobe, lamp, and desk. Single rooms include a full size bed, while doubles have large twins. There is central air conditioning, free basic cable, and the university wireless internet service.
Furthermore, Copeley has a gazebo and lounge area. There are many picnic benches surrounding the area. Along with three dumpsters and an area for recycling. There are convenient bike racks and an abundant amount of parking spaces. To be able to use the parking spaces a resident must acquire a parking permit. The parking permit must be purchased at the monthly rate is $41 and yearly rate is $491. It is more cost efficient to buy a monthly rate, as most students are not on campus all year.
Copeley has four resident advisors and one senior resident advisor. In addition, there are two council members. The resident advisors send out newsletters every two months with details on upcoming events being held in Copeley. These events include a Halloween Party and An all-male sexual awareness event. Besides these events Copeley is known for their carnival themed welcome event during move-in weekend and their S’mores night which is held almost every Tuesday. For most of the events food is provided such as, Dominos and WingsOver. Often these events are held in the lounge area, gazebo, or lawn area behind the residential buildings. The purpose of these events is to allow residential students to interact with one another. It is a great way to meet new people that otherwise would not have been met.
There is a Copeley website provided by the resident advisors. It shows pictures from previous events, a calendar of upcoming events, and has a forum for residents to post feedback on events. Additionally, the residents can post ideas for other events that they would like to personally host.
There are three bus stops in the area: two Northline: one headed in the direction of campus the other headed in the direction of Barracks Road Shopping Center. In addition, there is one central grounds transit that leads to the main campus. These buses tend to run every twenty to thirty minutes.
There are many facilities in the area which include the School of Law. The School of Law includes a library that is open to undergraduates during designated hours. These designated hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm. On the weekends from Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.The Darden School of Business is also fairly. There are many fields surrounding Copeley. These fields include a softball, soccer and track field. There is a gym within walking distance called the North Grounds Rec Center. This Rec Center is mainly known for its Jacuzzi. The Barracks Road Shopping Center is within walking distance. It includes two well-known grocery stores, Harris Teeter and Krogers. The Center also provides many Fast food places such Taco Bell, McDonalds, Chipotle, Slice, and Burger King. Along with the restaurants such as, VinBurger, Brixxs, and Ruby Tuesday. In addition, the center has clothing shops such as, Francesca’s, Loft, and Banana Republic.
